Omaha Beach (La Mer) - Golf Course in France

About Omaha Beach (La Mer)

The 36-hole golf complex at golf omaha beach is situated on the cliff tops above the small town of port en bessin, less than five kilometers west of the longues-sur-mer fortress, which was part of germany's atlantic wall coastal fortifications during world war ii.

The 9-hole les tanges course opened in 1986, followed a year later by the 18-hole, par 72 la mer layout. The original 9-hole course at omaha beach was renamed le manoir in 2006 after it was expanded to an 18-hole, par 71 course.

The club's championship course, la mer, hosted two editions of the now-defunct open de france senior tournament between 1994 and 2004. The course, which measures 6,166 meters from the back tees, is capable of challenging both elite amateurs and professionals.

The highly sand-protected 6th (general omar bradley) is a real feature hole on the front nine, named after a famous allied player. The 145-meter 15th (general g. crerar) on the inner half is the best short hole on the board, with a spectacular two-tiered green.
