Montgomerie Course, Celtic Manor

Colin Montgomerie's latest course at the magnificent Celtic Manor Resort, which opened in July 2007 alongside its big brother the Twenty Ten Course, was designed by Ryder Cup star Colin Montgomerie.

The front nine of Monty's new course features the opening and closing holes from the old Westwood Hills Course, while the back nine was built on the site of Celtic Manor's former 18-hole Coldra Woods Academy Course.

While the Montgomerie Course has a few deep pot bunkers, and the club's marketing blurb will have you believe that this gives it a links-like feel, the course is really an open-country parkland affair with spectacular elevated tee shots through valleys.

Celtic manor now has three top-notch courses, including the recent 6,371-yard par 69 montgomerie course, reaffirming their status as wales' Premier golf resort.
