Set within a protected pine forest south of Lisbon, PGA Aroeira 1 is one of the region’s most established championship layouts. Designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1972, this par-72 course has hosted the Portuguese Open on multiple occasions, underlining its tournament pedigree. Fairways are framed by tall umbrella pines, placing a premium on accuracy from the tee, while well-guarded greens demand precise iron play.

Although relatively flat, the subtle doglegs and carefully positioned bunkers ensure it remains a strategic test throughout. As part of the Aroeira resort near the Costa da Caparica coastline, it provides a classic parkland round within easy reach of Lisbon.
