Belle Mare Plage (Legend)

Mauritius

The legend golf course, one of two 18-hole courses at the belle mare plage resort on mauritius' east coast, was designed by the great south african champion hugh baiocchi in 1994.

The course, which is significantly longer than its twin, the links layout, is located inside a densely wooded former hunting range, with flood hazards challenging many of the holes.

Fairways are usually wide and tolerant, despite being tree-lined, and they adhere to greens that have recently been restored to usga standards.

The par four 5th hole is the most difficult on the map, with water to the right of the fairway that must be cleared on the way to the tee. The stunning par three 17th hole, which plays through a narrow inlet on the seafront at bras requin bay to a challenging green surrounded by sand traps, is the signature spot.
