The golf national is located just 20 miles west of paris. There's a touch of florida, a sprinkling of ireland, and a lot of france here in guyancourt, which surrounds the chateau of versailles, which was once home to louis x1v.

The albatros stadium course at golf national took three years to construct and opened for play in 1990. Hubert chesneau and von hagge architecture associates (now known as von hagge, smelek & baril) partnered on the project. The golf course was designed with the intention of hosting the french open as well as national and international tournaments. A potential ryder cup may also be held here, according to speculation.
