St Mellion (Nicklaus)

It should come as no surprise that the nicklaus golf course at st mellion golf & country club is the first european course that jack planned. If you just want to put your skills to the test, this is the way to go. The onsite hotel and country club building, which was recently refurbished (2009), has excellent amenities and is well-equipped for guests.

In 1988, the nicklaus course opened for play. in knew it was going to be fine, but not this good - it's all i had wished for and more and the great man said, obviously pleased with his success. St mellion has the opportunity to be europe's best golf course.âĢĿ From 1990 to 1995, the course was decent enough to host the benson & hedges international open, which was won by olazábal, langer, and ballesteros.

On what was once rolling countryside, st mellion is situated in the tamar valley. The beast is the nicklaus course, which is not far from bodmin moor.

The course is generally in outstanding, american-style manicured shape, with plenty of distance between the sculptured fairways and first/second cuts of rough, as well as between the greens and fringes. The mission at hand can be seen clearly from elevated tees. Hold the ball in play and there are a lot of bunkers and water.
