The 360-degree panorama from the isle of purbeck golf course is stunning, as the course is perched on a high heathland plateau, interrupting one's focus on the game at hand. The isle of wight is to the south across the solent, bournemouth is to the east across poole bay, brownsea island and poole harbour beyond are to the north across poole harbour, and the purbeck hills are to the west. This is the sort of golf course where you can pull your non-golfing friend along. He or she would be delighted to take in the scenery.

This is not links golf; isle of purbeck golf club is situated in a heathland nature reserve with a profusion of gorse, heather, rare flora and fauna. The club was established in 1892 and was renovated at the turn of the century by harry colt, one of the greatest architects of all time. However, we agree that the isle of purbeck is one of dorset's finest golf courses. The view from the elevated 5th tee on the isle of purbeck is worth the green charge in and of itself; it's one of the most spectacular tee shots in the british isles.
