Grand Cypress (New)

USA

The grand cypress golf complex, located only a few miles east of the walt disney world resort, was built in the mid-1980s, with the north, south, and east nines (now shittered) opening first, followed by the 18-hole new course a few years later.

The resort's forty-five holes were all built by jack nicklaus, and although it's tailored toward golfers looking for a fun round while on holiday, it's also hosted a variety of important professional tournaments in recent years, including a number of lpga events.

The golden bear's new course pays homage to scotland's birthplace of golf, st andrews, so trees are kept to a minimum, stone walls exist on occasion, and pot bunkers – some as deep as 12 feet – are frequently brought into play.

Seven large, double greens mimic the old course's original layout, and there are other slight homages around the course, such as a "swilkin fire" at the 1st, "rise" and "strath" sand traps at the 7th, and a bunker-free green on the 18th.
