Royal Westmoreland Golf Course

Barbados

You can't help but note the lavish colonial-styled houses as soon as you pass through royal westmorland's door. The bulk of these exclusive lands are purchased by europeans and range in price from $700,000 to $10 million us dollars. Cricketers and footballers from the united kingdom are among the property's owners, while americans prefer the similarly exclusive sandy lane house, which is situated further south on the infamous island of barbados.

The course, which measures 6,870 yards from the championship tees and has a par of 72, was designed by robert trent jones jr. and is located in the parish of st james. Every hole has a view of the caribbean sea and is finely manicured with undulating fairways, as it is routed over the island's higher terrain.

The first few holes ease you in slowly, but by the fourth hole, you'll remember the overwhelming amount of strategically spaced bunkers – there are a total of 98 to clear before arriving at the spacious clubhouse.

The natural environment has been used heavily, with the 5th and 6th holes using an old coral stone quarry to great advantage. The above is a par five with a well-hidden green that necessitates two powerful shots just to see it.
